About Us

WHO ARE WE?

Hope Mission of Carteret County, Inc. is a non-profit Christian ministry which seeks to serve the less fortunate citizens of Carteret County through ministries of food, compassion, emergency financial assistance, shelter for the homeless, and prayer as well as other means of support. Our volunteers come largely from churches throughout the county that seek to assist with human needs.

HOW ARE WE ORGANIZED?

A Board of Directors who are active Christians and local church members and pastors in Carteret County oversee this ministry. Committees of the Board operate these ministries and an Executive Director keeps things running smoothly.

HOW ARE WE FINANCED?

Hope Mission Christian Ministries is financed largely by contributions from churches, civic groups, and several hundred individuals. Funding is provided by several general appeals to individuals, special appeals to civic and community organizations and both contributions and line-item commitments from churches.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF HOPE MISSION CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

  • Faith and Victory Church started a soup kitchen at their location on 702 Arendell Street, Morehead City NC in January 1990. The soup kitchen operated under the non-profit, tax exempt status of Faith and Victory Church.
  • Due to the increased number of persons in need of daily meals and the need for more financial support from the community, a decision was made to form "Hope Mission".
  • Hope Mission of Carteret County, INC., was incorporated July 29, 1991 and operated out of the Faith and Victory location until October of 1991.
  • In October of 1991 a vacant facility located at 1306 Arendell Street became available to the Mission.
  • In April of 1992, after a brief search, property located at 1412 Bridges Street was found and purchased with the assistance of local charitable organizations, churches, businesses and private individuals.
  • Habitat for Humanity took over the location at 1412 Bridges and constructed the present building located at 1410 Bridges Street for Hope Mission.
  • Hope Mission now has 3 employees. All other persons involved with the mission are on a volunteer basis.
