“Serving our Community Together”

The police brought him to the Mission one morning. John had just gotten out of jail and didn’t have a place to go. We fixed him breakfast; he hung around helping in any way he was asked, he had lunch and stayed until we closed that day. That night, like many others, the men’s homeless

shelter became his home. John had nothing to do and no place to go, so the Mission became his place. He had grown up in church, had taken his family to church as a father but put all that aside when his family fell apart over his

addiction. For years he had traveled from town to town

doing odd jobs, never staying in any place long and never going into a church. During one of the Bible studies held at the Mission, he started asking questions about God and

forgiveness. This was not a church he was sitting in, it was a place called Hope

Mission. As the Bible study leader talked about God’s desire for everyone to be saved, healed, delivered and filled with the Holy Spirit, he was glued to the Bible reading

every verse. John knew it was time to come back to God. When the leader ask if he would like to pray, John did and received Jesus as his Savior. That night the angels rejoiced in heaven over the “one sinner that repented” and of course we did too. John stayed around Hope Mission for a few months, working, serving, smiling, telling others what Jesus had done for him and then he began asking about going home. We made a few phone calls, purchased a bus ticket and watched him ride away. A life changed by the transforming power of Jesus. Over the next months and years John has stayed in touch with us. God has restored his family and they are living for Jesus.

That’s what we do at Hope Mission and YOU make it possible. Thank you for your financial support and for your prayers. June and I are truly grateful for your partnership in the Gospel as we  “serve our community together” at Hope Mission.
