Open Heart - Open Handed

January 2015

Ephesians 2:10 NIV

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which god prepared in advance for us to do.”

“…doing God’s work together…”

To All the Friends and Family of Hope Mission, What a great year we had so far. Thanks for all your support through prayer, service and finances.

Here is how we can use your help. We would like to ask you to help us with one or two food items each month.

The month of January we are targeting:

1.            Spaghetti Sauce

2.            Cleaning Supplies

3.            Canned Greens

(Size 10 Restaurant style cans are the preferred size for our cooking but we greatly appreciate any size).

These will be served to the less fortunate in our community, who without us, might otherwise go hungry.

“When we offer open-handed help to the poor, God blesses us for our kindness. (Proverbs, 19:17).

Thanksgiving / Christmas Appeal

Please take time to read our full annual appeal ….  HM 2014 Christmas Appeal

Someone said, “We reflect God’s nature when we care for the needy.”

Over the years, as June and I have studied God’s Word, we have seen our Heavenly Father’s concern for the poor. We believe that we belong to a compassionate Kingdom, one wide enough to take in all the lost, oppressed, exhausted, hungry, and homeless.

The Bible gives us a picture of our Heavenly Father who cares about the condition of the poor. We read, “He (God) will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death.” Ps. 72:12–13

We have learned from the Bible that God provides for the poor (Ps. 68:10), delivers the poor (Ps. 72:12), secures justice for the poor (Ps. 140:12), hears the poor (Job 34:28), shows no partiality against the poor (Job 34:19), protects the poor (Ps. 12:5), will not forsake the poor (Is. 41:17), and gives food to the poor (Ps. 146:7).

So, this is the Kingdom that June and I, along with each of you belong. We are called to be ambassadors of God, and as such, we are called to help and walk alongside the poor.

For us, the idea of compassion for the poor is central to our faith. It is not complicated or hard to understand. It is simple. God and His Son Jesus, cared about the poor and so do we.

Thank you for walking with us. For partnering with us as we serve the least, the lonely and the lost through a place called: Hope Mission
