Empty Bowls 2014

It is time for Empty Bowls!! Mark you calendar, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m at the Crystal Coast Civic Center, 3505 Arendell St., Morehead City NC. Hope Mission will once again hold our annual fundraiser for Empty Bowls.

This is a fantastic way to empty-bowlssupport two local entities that address the issues of hunger in Carteret County. Hope Mission shares the proceeds of this fundraiser with Martha’s Mission of Carteret County as both entities address hunger on a daily basis. Hope Mission feeds a noon meal 7 days a week. Last year we provided 35,466 meals to the less fortunate citizens of Carteret County while Martha’s Mission gives food boxes to families who otherwise would go without. Attending Empty Bowls will provide much needed funding for both entities to carry out their mission and provide you with wonderful lunch and a beautiful pottery bowl.

Tickets are still available and they sell for $20.00 each. With this you will receive two bowls of soup, drink and dessert. You will also be able to choose a beautiful hand crafted pottery bowl to take home to remind you for years to come of your participation to fight hunger.

For tickets you may call Hope Mission at 252-240-2359, Webb Memorial Library in Morehead City, Handscapes Gallery in Beaufort, and Cape Carteret Aquatic and Wellness Center.

Hope to see you there!

Executive Director

Open Heart - Open Handed Help February 2014

“…doing God’s work together…”

To All the Friends and Family of Hope Mission, What a great year we had in 2013. Thanks for all your support through prayer, service and finances.

  • We wrapped up 2013 serving 35,466 meals.
  • We had 151 men stay in our shelter.
  • We dispersed $31,197 in helping with financial assistance to our community.
  • We had over 200+ volunteers serve at Hope Mission in some capacity.
  • We had over 41 churches that shared the love of Jesus by ministry in Hope Mission.
  • We continue to partner with Coastal Academy for Technology and Science (former Cape Lookout Marine Science High School) serving 45-50 meals, Monday through Friday.

Now, a new year has started and we are excited about what God is doing.

Here is how we can use your help. We would like to ask you to help us with one or two food items each month.

The month of February we are targeting:

  1. Hot Dogs

  2. One gallon zip-lock freezer bags

  3. Pasta Sauce

These will be served to the less fortunate in our community, who without us, might otherwise go hungry.

“When we offer open-handed help to the poor, God blesses us for our kindness. (Proverbs, 19:17).
