Souper Bowl

As we approach the February 2, 2014 Superbowl we ask that you look at the National “Souperbowl of Caring” website and join with us to help fight hunger!

A simple prayer delivered by Brad Smith, ”Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat” is inspiring a youth-led movement to help hungry and hurting people around the world.Souper Bowl Logo

This prayer, delivered by Brad Smith, then a seminary intern serving at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC, gave birth to an idea. Why not ask parishioners to give one dollar each for the needy as they leave worship on Super Bowl Sunday? Young people could receive the donations then send every dollar DIRECTLY to the charity of their choice.

We are asking that you consider making your donation to Hope Mission as together we can meet the needs of those less fortunate in Carteret County.

Hope Mission of Carteret County is a local Christian Ministry, which is supported by over 50 local churches as well as hundreds of individuals and civic or business groups. It operates several areas of ministries: a seven-day a week Community Kitchen, serving a hot meal each day to those in need; an Outreach Ministry, providing emergency financial assistance for those unable to pay electric or rent bills and are in serious peril of becoming homeless or without power and with other emergency needs to include providing food, an emergency shelter for housing the homeless men of Carteret County as well as care for the needs of those dealing with Substance Abuse.

Please feel free to contact us through our contact page and someone will be in touch.

God Bless you all for helping as together we Serve our Father by serving those in need.

Open Heart - Open Handed Help (January, 2014)

“…doing God’s work together…”

To All the Friends and Family of Hope Mission, What a great year we had in 2013. Thanks for all your support through prayer, service and finances.

  • We wrapped up the year serving 35,466 meals.
  • We had 151 men stay in our shelter.
  • We dispersed $31,197 in helping with financial assistance to our community.
  • We had over 200+ volunteers serve at Hope Mission in some capacity.
  • We had over 41 churches that shared the love of Jesus by ministry in Hope Mission.
  • We continue to partner with Coastal Academy for Technology and Science (former Cape Lookout Marine Science High School) serving 45-50 meals, Monday through Friday.

Now, a new year has started and we are excited about what God is doing.

Here is how we can use your help. We would like to ask you to help us with one or two food items each month.

The month of January we are targeting:

  1. Salt for cooking

  2. Hotdogs & Hamburger

  3. One gallon zip-lock freezer bags

These will be served to the less fortunate in our community, who without us, might otherwise go hungry.

“When we offer open-handed help to the poor, God blesses us for our kindness. (Proverbs, 19:17).
