AS CHRISTIANS who are concerned about reaching people with the gospel, June and I, along with over 200 volunteers have the privilege of serving others, especially the poor at Hope Mission. As we serve, we are following the example of Jesus, who "made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant" (Phil. 2:7).

I was told several years ago by my Pastor that I would serve Natural Food that would help sustain the soul and I would serve Spiritual Food that would help sustain the Spirit. Serving the community is both a ministry and a job.

God's call for me to serve the less fortunate Citizens of Carteret County, including the homeless population, has been the greatest blessing in my life.
