Hope Mission understands your concerns about safety and security and we want to assure you that we make every effort to safeguard your privacy and allow you to make donations through our website in a convenient and secure manner. For that reason, Hope Mission uses industry-leading Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect against the loss, misuse and unauthorized alteration of the information under our control. Hope Mission helps to protect your information by working with partners such as PayPal that provide a secure and safe environment for Internet donations and payments.

The information below spells out the privacy and security practices of Hope Mission of Carteret County, Inc. (“Hope Mission”, “us”, “our” or “we”),  a North Carolina nonprofit, non-stock corporation recognized by the IRS as exempt from income tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), which may use this information for all purposes outlined in its own privacy policy.

This Privacy Policy describes the types of information Hope Mission may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the website or mobile site at www.HMCM.org  (including sub-domains, web pages within this site or any equivalent mirror, replacement, substitute, or backup website), or any website, mobile site or application that links to this Privacy Policy, accessed via any device, or access any of the services we provide (collectively, the “Website”).  If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Data Collected

We collect the following types of information from our users: Personal information you submit to us voluntarily and information we collect automatically when you use our Website or services.  “Personal information” is data that can be used to uniquely identify or contact a single person. Personal information we collect may include your name, phone number, mailing address and e-mail address.  Examples of places where we might collect this type of information would be for the sale of Empty Bowls tickets or registering for an event such as the Annual Golf Tournament, etc. “Information that we collect automatically” is done through the use of cookies and does not include any personally identifiable information.

We collect anonymous data from every visitor of the Website to monitor traffic and fix bugs. For example, we collect information like web requests, the data sent in response to such requests, the Internet Protocol address, the browser type, the browser language, and a timestamp for the request.

In addition, we may use the information we collect in accordance with this Privacy Policy for the following purposes:

  • To communicate with you regarding your donation;
  • To respond to your inquiries and to contact you about changes to the Website;
  • To send you notices or our e-Newsletter (if you have signed up to receive it); Hope Mission offers a free e-Newsletter that it sends out to donors, supporters and other interested individuals. Subscribers may choose to unsubscribe at any time and unsubscribe information is located at the bottom of each e-Newsletter.

Complying With the Legal System

Though Hope Mission makes every effort to preserve donor and visitor privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, or legal process served on our organization.

Email Communications

We may receive a confirmation when you open an email or e-Newsletter from us. We use this confirmation to improve our customer service and the quality of our email correspondence to you.

Information Collected Using Cookies:

Other Information Collected

If you make a donation online, we transfer you at the point of payment to PayPal, a secure online banking system. Hope Mission partners with organizations such as PayPal to ensure that giving across the Internet to be as secure as possible. Please be aware that donor information shared through PayPal is accessible by PayPal and Hope Mission. Hope Mission is not responsible for the privacy practices of our partners and any donor information shared through partner sites (such as PayPal) is subject to that partner’s privacy policy.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

Hope Mission periodically reviews and updates this Privacy Policy. If we decide to change this Privacy Policy, we will post those changes to our Website so our donors and visitors are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We may also, in our sole discretion, notify you of such changes via our e-Newsletter or email to your email address that we have in our records.  By continuing to access or use any of our Websites after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
